Linds 7 years agoI received a phone call from this number st 6:17am today Nov.16, 2017 and I believe it to be fraud. It\'s a D.C. Area code and they left this VM- “Criminal lawsuit filed against your name by internal revenue service for tax avasion and tax fraud so you or your criminal attorney needs give me a call as soon as possible because your case is time sensitive and it is going to be prosecuted soon into the Federal claims court house so before we proceed with the legal action against you and have you arrested under the legal terms give us a call back as soon as possible our call back number is 202506821 to repeat it is 202-506-8212 thank you…”
I filed my 2015 taxes and 2016 taxes late- but had them both filed on October 20, 2017 and have already received my 2016 refund. I\'m expected to receive the 2015 refund on the 20th of this month. If you have any question regarding your taxes or how much you owe go to www.Irs.gov/account You can see all of your filing years, returns, any amendments made by you or them and check the status of your refund. Dr D 7 years agoI got a voicemail from this number on my work phone saying they needed the number of my criminal attorney because the IRS was going to arrest me for tax fraud. I file taxes every year using an accountant. I believe the accountant would hear something and tell me if this were legit.(1)

Anonym 7 years agoKevin Reid claiming to be from the IRS said I am under investigation for tax evasion and I need an attorney for court. He claimed I owe $2340. I asked why I owe the money and he said \"I dont have the documents in front of me.\" I said, \"No I do not need an attorney you made a mistake.\" He stated a police officer would be coming to pick me up and put me behind bars and he will see me in court. I said \"see ya there\" and he disconnected.(1)

O.R.S. 7 years agoI have received calls from this number leaving me voicemails that I am going to be arrested for tax fraud/evasion if I or my criminal lawyer do not give them a call back. First of all, I have never committed tax fraud and I file a tax return every year! It is an automated message.(2)

Tom L. 7 years agoI have received same call repeatedly. Says it is the IRS and I need to call back or going to be arrested. I would think this type of issue would be handled by a letter in the mail or other. Why can the legal system not shut this type of thing down. Somehow they registered for the number. (1)

M. Warwick 7 years agoThis number, and a different (202) area code number call me everyday. This time I answered and a recording said the IRS has a criminal lawsuit against me for tax evasion. The IRS does not call you like this if there is any issue, which I have none.
